GATE

The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an examination conducted in India that primarily tests the comprehensive understanding of various undergraduate subjects in engineering and science for admission into the Masters Program and Job in Public Sector Companies.

GATE is one of the finest examinations in India and the purpose of GATE exam is to scrutinize the core knowledge and subject ability of the student and how much they are acquainted with their graduation disciplines.

A candidate who has already completed any government approved degree program in Engineering / Technology / Architecture / Science / Commerce / Arts is eligible for appearing in the GATE exam.

If you clear GATE, then you can attract job offers from esteemed organizations like BHEL, IOCL, ONGC, SAIL, NTPC, HPCL, PGCIL, BARC, and many more. A combination of an advanced engineering job and the perks of government salary is enough to make your career worthwhile.

GATE score card validity is for three years since its issuance. GATE aspirants aiming to improve their scores can appear for the exams next year. If any candidate has multiple valid score cards, during admission to the desired institution, they have the option to use any of them.

The GATE exam, which tests one's technical knowledge and general aptitude is mandatory for basic qualification. Apart from these, non-PSU central government organizations like DRDO, ISRO, BARC hire candidates on the basis of GATE score.

The most common option after qualifying GATE is to pursue M.E/M. Tech/Phd in NITs , IIITs, IITs and CFTIs. Selection of the candidates in any institute is done on the basis of their GATE scores. Candidates should also know which is the right institute, course, specialization for them.

GATE is conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science and seven Indian Institutes of Technologies at Roorkee, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Chennai (Madras) and Mumbai (Bombay) on behalf of the National Coordination Board – GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education (MoE).
